🔬 Innovation and Patents in Colombia
In the last two years, the number of patent applications filed with the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC) has been increasing, positioning it among the fastest industrial property offices in the world.
⚠️ Alarming Fact: Out of every 2,000 patent applications filed each year, only one in ten is domestic. The rest are applications from foreigners.
Much of the problem arises from the public's lack of awareness about protecting their inventions. For this reason, the SIC has launched free courses and assistance on industrial property.

Among the Colombian companies that file patents, Ecopetrol S.A. stands out, to which the SIC has granted 67 patent applications in the Oil & Gas sector over the last five years.
