The importance of tax law for the protection of taxpayers and its intervention in the social progress of the country allows a dynamic of social balance and guarantee of economic coordination that requires adjusting the postulates of tax law.

The Colombian State has a wide variety of taxation at the national level, such as: income tax, value added tax, national consumption tax, tax on financial movements; national gasoline tax, national carbon tax, and stamp tax, among others.

At the departmental level, such as: consumption tax on beer, liquor, cigarettes, and tobacco, registration tax, gasoline surtax, and vehicle tax.

At the municipal level, there is the industry and commerce tax, unified property tax, tax on motor vehicles, gasoline surtax, urban delineation tax, and gambling and shows tax.

The value of taxes in Colombia is mandatory and depends on several factors, including profit, income, the value of movable and immovable property, the value of goods produced and sold, and financial transactions.

The level of taxation is high in Colombia, and the benefits that taxpayers and companies receive from the State depend on the Social Responsibility of each organization. Furthermore, Colombia has a high level of indebtedness, so strategies must be adopted to moderate public spending and generate social benefits for taxpayers and Colombians in general.

The Directorate of National Taxes and Customs (DIAN) daily improves its Muisca platform, and with the tool of the exogenous information submitted by taxpayers, it is easier for it to fulfill its mission of inspection and control through cross-referencing of information, with which it can identify whether the taxpayer complied timely and correctly with their tax obligations. In addition, it facilitates for taxpayers the information that third parties have reported.

The electronic invoice and electronic payroll are other very important tools that improve and facilitate DIAN's mission of inspection and control over taxpayers' tax obligations.
Finally, due to the creation of these new tools and bankarization, DIAN will have in its power all the information of organizations, and in the not too distant future it may extinguish the obligation to present exogenous information.
